Starting a Project
Planning & Estimates
What to expect before measurements, material coordination, and installation begin.
What services does NYC ALL GLASS provide?
We provide custom skylights and glass roofs, glass railings and staircases, interior partitions and doors, shower enclosures, mirrors, storefronts, entrance systems, glass canopies, curtain walls, commercial windows, glass repair, replacement, and emergency board-up.
Do you work on both residential and commercial properties?
Yes. NYC ALL GLASS works on residential, retail, office, showroom, multifamily, commercial, and contractor-led construction projects. Acceptance depends on the scope, location, access, schedule, and current project requirements.
What information should I send for an estimate?
Send the project address, requested service, approximate measurements, clear photographs, drawings or plans when available, current project stage, desired schedule, access information, and your complete contact details.
Is a site visit required before pricing?
It depends on the project. Photographs, dimensions, and drawings may be enough for an initial review, but custom fabrication and installation normally require verified field measurements and a review of the surrounding conditions.
How long does a custom glass project take?
Timing varies according to measurements, engineering or design requirements, glass type, hardware, fabrication, approvals, site readiness, access, and installation complexity. A realistic schedule can only be established after the scope is reviewed.
Can NYC ALL GLASS match an existing design or glass system?
Matching may be possible, but the existing glass, finish, tint, coating, hardware, framing, dimensions, and installation condition must be reviewed first. Exact matches are not always available, especially for older or discontinued materials.
How long has NYC ALL GLASS been in business?
NYC ALL GLASS SYSTEM was established in 2010 and brings more than 15 years of experience to residential, commercial, and contractor-led glass and glazing projects.
Overhead Glazing
Skylights & Glass Roofs
Installation, repair, waterproofing, insulation, replacement, and overhead glass systems.
Does NYC ALL GLASS install custom skylights?
Yes. We provide custom skylight installation for residential and commercial applications. The opening, structure, pitch, drainage, glass specification, framing, waterproofing, insulation, and interior and exterior transitions must be coordinated for the specific property.
Can a leaking skylight be repaired without replacing it?
Sometimes. The leak source may involve sealant, flashing, drainage, framing transitions, failed insulated glass, condensation, roofing conditions, or surrounding construction. The cause must be identified before deciding whether repair or replacement is appropriate.
When should a skylight be replaced instead of repaired?
Replacement may be the better option when glass is failed or damaged, framing is significantly deteriorated, the insulated unit has lost its seal, recurring leaks cannot be corrected reliably, or the existing system no longer performs appropriately.
Do you provide skylight waterproofing and leak correction?
Yes. Waterproofing and leak-correction work may include reviewing glass joints, perimeter transitions, flashing, drainage paths, sealants, curbs, and adjoining roofing conditions. The precise corrective scope depends on the identified source of water entry.
Can skylight insulation and condensation performance be improved?
Potential improvements depend on the glass unit, framing system, thermal breaks, curb construction, perimeter insulation, air sealing, interior humidity, and existing conditions. Condensation is not always caused by the glass alone, so the full assembly should be considered.
Do you install glass roofs and other overhead glazing?
Yes. NYC ALL GLASS works with glass roofs and overhead glazing for appropriate residential and commercial applications. These systems require careful attention to structure, slope, drainage, water management, thermal performance, safety glazing, framing, and maintenance access.
Interior Glass
Railings, Partitions & Custom Glass
Custom systems for homes, offices, showrooms, stairs, landings, and interior spaces.
Where can custom glass railings be installed?
Glass railings may be used at staircases, landings, balconies, overlooks, mezzanines, terraces, offices, showrooms, and residential interiors. The supporting structure, mounting method, glass specification, code requirements, and intended use must be reviewed.
Do you install frameless glass railings?
Yes, where the structure and project requirements support the selected system. Frameless appearances may use base shoes, standoffs, clamps, or other engineered mounting approaches. “Frameless” does not mean the glass is unsupported.
What type of glass is used for railings and staircases?
The appropriate safety-glass type and thickness depend on the system, panel dimensions, support conditions, location, loading requirements, code criteria, and hardware. Specifications should be confirmed for each project rather than assumed from appearance alone.
Can glass railings be installed on an existing staircase?
Possibly. The staircase and surrounding structure must be reviewed for dimensions, alignment, mounting surfaces, edge conditions, finishes, and the ability to support the selected railing system safely.
Do you install office glass partitions and interior doors?
Yes. We provide office partitions, showroom glass systems, interior glass doors, and custom transparent divisions. Layout, door operation, hardware, privacy, acoustical expectations, ceiling and floor conditions, and adjacent finishes should be coordinated.
Do you provide shower enclosures, mirrors, and custom-cut glass?
Yes. Services may include shower enclosures, mirrors, shelves, tabletops, and other custom interior glass. Availability and specifications depend on dimensions, edgework, holes, cutouts, hardware, mounting, safety requirements, and site conditions.
Storefronts, entrances, canopies, commercial windows, and curtain-wall systems must account for exposure, water management, movement, operation, security, access, and surrounding construction. Continue to exterior-system questions.
Commercial Exteriors
Storefronts & Exterior Systems
Commercial storefronts, entrances, canopies, curtain walls, window walls, and windows.
Does NYC ALL GLASS install commercial storefront systems?
Yes. We provide commercial storefront glass and related systems for retail, restaurant, office, showroom, and other business properties. The scope may include glass, aluminum framing, entrances, sidelites, transoms, display glazing, and related components.
Do you install both aluminum and frameless storefronts?
Yes, depending on the opening, design, structural support, door requirements, exposure, security needs, and applicable project criteria. The best system is determined by performance and use—not appearance alone.
Can you install or replace commercial entrance doors?
Yes. Commercial entrance work may include glass and aluminum doors, frameless glass doors, pivots, closers, handles, locks, thresholds, and related hardware. Existing framing, accessibility, operation, security, and surrounding conditions must be checked.
Do you provide custom glass canopies?
Yes. Glass canopies require project-specific coordination of structure, connections, glass specification, slope, drainage, sealants, exposure, finish, and installation access. Supporting conditions must be verified before fabrication.
What is the difference between a curtain wall and a window wall?
A curtain wall typically forms a non-load-bearing exterior enclosure spanning in front of structural floor edges, while a window wall is generally installed between floor slabs. Exact system selection depends on the building design, performance criteria, structure, drainage, and project details.
Can storefront work be completed while a business remains open?
Sometimes. Feasibility depends on safety, access, protection, public separation, temporary closure requirements, glass handling, noise, dust, door operation, and the scope of work. Occupied-business work must be planned carefully with the owner or manager.
Corrective Work
Glass Repair & Replacement
Damage assessment, board-up, replacement, insulated glass, doors, windows, and storefronts.
Do you provide emergency glass repair and board-up?
Emergency repair and board-up may be available depending on location, access, glass condition, public safety, opening size, material availability, and current team capacity. Call 718-758-5515 and provide the exact address, photographs, and damage details.
Does emergency board-up include permanent glass replacement?
Not necessarily. Board-up is normally a temporary safety and security measure. Permanent replacement may require field measurements, identification of the glass type, fabrication, ordering, access planning, and a separate return installation.
Can only the broken storefront glass be replaced?
Often, yes, when the existing framing and surrounding system remain serviceable. The glass type, thickness, tint, coating, safety requirements, dimensions, edge conditions, and glazing method must be identified before replacement.
Can fogged or failed insulated glass be repaired?
A failed insulated glass unit is generally replaced rather than resealed in place. The opening, glass makeup, spacer, coating, tint, thickness, overall unit size, and surrounding frame should be reviewed before ordering a replacement unit.
Can tempered glass be cut or resized after manufacturing?
No. Tempered glass cannot be safely cut, drilled, or resized after tempering. Required dimensions, holes, notches, and edgework must be completed before the heat-treatment process.
Should cracked glass be repaired or replaced?
Cracked architectural glass normally requires replacement. The area should be kept clear, especially when loose fragments, overhead glass, doors, railings, or public-facing storefronts are involved. A professional assessment should determine temporary and permanent safety measures.
Commercial Coordination
Contractors & Project Teams
Bid invitations, plans, scope review, field coordination, documentation, and references.
Can general contractors invite NYC ALL GLASS to bid?
Yes. Send the company and contact information, project name and address, bid due date, glass scope, plans, specifications, addenda, schedule information, and any qualification or onboarding requirements.
What plans and specifications should be included with a bid invitation?
Provide the current architectural drawings, elevations, details, door and window schedules, glass specifications, hardware information, finish requirements, addenda, alternates, bid form, schedule, logistics requirements, and any relevant structural or waterproofing details.
Does NYC ALL GLASS provide design-assist or scope coordination?
Design-assist and scope-coordination support may be considered depending on the project. Responsibilities, deliverables, engineering needs, approvals, schedule, exclusions, and reliance on supplied information must be clearly defined before work begins.
Can you provide furnish-and-install or labor-only pricing?
Available contracting approaches depend on the service, material responsibility, approved system, procurement conditions, warranty allocation, schedule, and project requirements. Clearly state the requested approach when submitting the opportunity.
Is NYC ALL GLASS licensed and insured, and what documentation is available?
NYC ALL GLASS maintains applicable licensing and insurance for its work. Project-specific certificates of insurance, W-9 information, license information, safety documentation, and contractor onboarding materials can be coordinated upon request. Send the required limits, endorsements, certificate-holder wording, and submission deadline.
Are general contractor references available?
References may be available upon request for qualified opportunities when disclosure is permitted. Provide the project information and explain the type of reference required.
